Are you feeling lost, weighed down by a burden that seems impossible to shake off? I understand that the weight of childhood trauma can cast a long shadow into our adult lives, impacting us in ways we might not fully comprehend. If you find yourself unable to move past this heavy load, know that you don't have to carry it alone—I'm here to help.

Compassion. Resilience. Healing.

Life after abuse is isolating. Talking about the abuse with loved ones feels unwelcome at best — unwanted at worst. You feel misunderstood. You feel like a stranger even to yourself and a burden in your relationships. It is normal for the impact of being sexually abused at a young age to surface later in life. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I understand the complicated nature of being sexually abused by someone close to you. The experience can be confusing, shameful, & lonely. Whether this is your first time ever opening up about the abuse or you’re feeling as if it is the only thing defining you, I am here for you.

Emma Shepardson, LISW-CP // LCSW
Owner & Clinician

My name is Emma & I am a therapist passionate about guiding individuals on their journey toward self-discovery and healing. I will support you as you navigate and overcome traumatic childhood experiences, fostering growth and resilience.

My therapeutic approach is centered around the transformative power of emotional exploration, understanding thinking patterns, and developing coping skills. Additionally, I incorporate EMDR techniques to aid the processing of past trauma. By leveraging these tools, we will work collaboratively to heal from your past and empower you to grow from these experiences. Whether it's navigating the aftermath of domestic violence, childhood abuse, loss of a loved one, or sexual assault, my commitment is to support you in finding hope and healing.

Originally from Kansas, I moved to the Carolinas in 2019 after earning my MSW from the University of Kansas. Outside of my professional life, I find joy in weekend trips to the mountains, leisurely walks with my dog & husband on the greenways, and eating really good food.

I am proud of you for taking this first step toward healing. It is an honor to be part of your journey, and I am here to provide the support and guidance you need.
